Safety Information regarding essential oils
- Keep away from reach of babies and children.
- Keep away from the eyes and sensitive skin. To test for an allergy or sensitivity to any essential oil, put a drop or two of the essential oil on a tissue paper and swipe the skin on the inside of the elbow. If redness, swelling or any skin discomfort is experienced within 15 minutes, do not proceed to use that essential oil.
- Do not take internally.
- Do not use undiluted on the skin.
- Store in dark and cool conditions.
Precautions for certain conditions
- Diabetes: Consult your doctor. Avoid Eucalyptus, Juniper and Geranium due to the possibility of balancing sugar levels in the blood making it necessary for insulin intake to be adjusted.
- Epilepsy: Avoid Camphor, Fennel, Hyssop, Evening Primrose and in some cases Eucalyptus and Rosemary.
- High Blood Pressure: Avoid Black Pepper, Ginger and Rosemary.
- Low Blood Pressure: Avoid Clary Sage, Marjoram, Yarrow and Ylang Ylang.
- Sunshine: Do not use citrus oils especially Bergamot, Lemon, Lemongrass and Orange prior to sunbathing or using a sun-bed as they can cause pigmentation and over-sensitivity of the skin.
- Sensitive Skin: Avoid Basil, Black Pepper, Ginger, Lemon, Lemongrass and Peppermint. Do not use Cinnamon on the skin at all.
- Children: Use Lavender, Cedarwood, Chamomile, Niaouli or Mandarin in at least half strength dilution
